oh…

Okay no that’s not what I’m saying at all. I’m saying they don’t APPEAR to exist. In 20 years, I’ve known one. Not because I hate them, because they aren’t out. It’s hard to write in queer characters when you don’t know them! I’m not scared of them or think they probably aren’t more common than straight people. I’m just saying one of the biggest non-close-minded reasons for leaving LGBTQ+ characters out of stories is lack of awareness.

that is still close-minded and ignorant, though. well-intended sure but if u have internet access there r millions of resources available to u - lack of awareness is a person’s own fault. if ppl can write aliens and monsters and what have u without knowing them, they can write queer people too.

Yeah but if you didn’t know queer people were common, why would you google it to make sure? People are not bad people for not being curious. If I’m writing a book about Chinese dragons I’m not gonna do research about LGBTQ. I’m gonna do research about Chinese stuff.

do you think sneaking out is ever a problem at hogwarts? like beyond secret passages to hogsmeade for late-night hogsmeade.

imagine there’s this small muggle scottish town not far from hogwarts. just a quick broom hop.

and some especially rambunctious muggleborns…
